Basket Weaving with Meg Viney

Picture
Discover the art of basketry with local fibre artist Meg Viney in this inspiring community workshop series.

On Friday afternoons, across October and November, Meg invites you to a  series of hands on workshops. Meg will guide you through a variety of traditional and contemporary techniques as you explore your creativity and develop new skills.

You’ll begin by spending time foraging and identifying materials. Then onto creating a unique twig basket, move into the expressive form of random basket weaving and melon basketry, and finish with the delicate craft of pine needle weaving.

Along the way, you'll work with natural materials and learn to appreciate the beauty and versatility of earth basketry.

For Meg, the landscape is rich with possibility; fibrous plants, feathers, grasses, and sticks all hold the potential to become beautiful, functional vessels.

With a generous spirit and deep respect for nature, Meg blends artistry with community connection, inviting others into a mindful, creative practice.
